Details:25% off of Thinkpad Notebook Computers
(expired)

IBM/Lenovo has an automatic 25% discount on Z, R, T, and X series notebook computers. Even after this discount, Thinkpads cost more than most other manufacturer's notebook computers, but many businesses gladly pay the higher price to get Thinkpads' superior durability and reliability. We love the Trackpoint located between the G and H keys as a comfortable alternative to a Touchpad.

For example, a Thinkpad T61 14" Widescreen for $1071 with a Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8GHz, Vista Premium, 1GB memory (1 DIMM), 60GB disk, DVD-ROM drive, PC Card Slot, choice of a memory card slot or an Express Card Slot (a smaller, new kind of PC Card), Intel Wireless, Bluetooth, 4-cell battery, 1 year warranty. An upgrade to Vista Business costs $22 more, 60GB hard drive costs $7.50 more, and a 6-cell upgrade costs $15 more. Selecting 1GB memory with 1 DIMM leaves one open slot for adding a second 1GB module later, such as a Corsair 1GB for $30 after rebate, and following the install instructions on page 64 of the manual.

That's actually a very good deal. If you configure a Dell Inspiron 640m in a similar way with Core 2 Duo T7200 and Vista Business, it comes to around $1000.
